Lan Interconnection Systems Using Leo and Geo Satellites -a Simulation Study

چکیده
There is an increasing demand for interconnecting LAN's at high data rates, e.g. remote X-Applications. Due to the lack of B-ISDN before the second decade of the next century, satellite systems are the only alternative. We compare the End-to-End cell delay of a geostationary satellite system with a low earth orbit satellite system by means of simulation. The comparison shows that the use of LEO satellites is suitible to LAN interconnection.

End-to-End QoS Evaluation of IP over LEO/GEO Satellites Constellations for FTP
This paper presents studies for the end-to-end QoS of IP over integrated terrestrial and Next Generation Satellite Network (NGSN) using FTP. We compare between LEO and GEO satellites constellations for the QoS parameters (i.e. delay, jitter, loss rate and throughput) of file transfer from a remote server in London and a remote client in Boston. We model the file transfer with multiple connectio...

The tropospheric channel models developed for earth-GEO satellite links are not directly applicable for LEO satellites. In the absence of significant propagation datasets, reasonable models are developed for the simulation of earth-LEO link. This paper presents preliminary models for the simulation of the effect of turbulence on earth-LEO links.

Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSSs) such as GPS, GLONASS, and the future Galileo and BeiDou, have demonstrated to be a valid and efficient system for various space applications in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), such as spacecraft orbit and attitude determination, rendezvous and formation flight of two or more spacecrafts, and timing synchronization. A GNSS presents a number of significant advan...
متن کاملOptimizing orbital debris monitoring with optical telescopes
Continued growth in the orbital debris population has renewed concerns over the long-term use of space. Debris poses an increasing risk to manned space missions and operational satellites; however, the majority of debris large enough to cause catastrophic damage is not being tracked and maintained in a catalog. Passive optical systems hold great promise to provide a cost-effective means to moni...
